Pirate's Island Adventure Golf on Gulf Shores Parkway is one of the better mini golf spots in the area. The pirate theming goes beyond just a skull flag — waterfalls, caves, pirate ships, and rock formations throughout.

Two 18-hole courses, each taking 30-45 minutes. The Captain's Course is slightly easier for younger kids. Cave sections with black lights are the highlight. Rounds cost about $13-16/person.

Gulf Shores in summer is hot — late afternoon or evening play is much more comfortable. The course is lit for evening play and looks better at night.

Bring bug spray if playing at dusk. Steps and uneven terrain make strollers impractical on the course. Young kids (4-5) should play from forward tee markers.
