Bangkok with kids is more workable than the guidebooks make it sound, as long as you take the heat and the traffic as the two real planning constraints. Mornings are for outdoor venues; afternoons retreat indoors to a mall or an air-conditioned attraction; evenings open back up after about 6 p.m. when temperatures drop. AMAZE ME at Asiatique the Riverfront is the family anchor at the river, and you can pair it with a sunset ferry ride that doubles as toddler entertainment. Cholasbkk and Funarium are the two reliable indoor play centers for younger kids, both inside malls with food courts that handle picky eaters. Bangkok Scuba Academy runs surprisingly good intro pool sessions for ages 8 and up; book ahead. The big temple complex at Wat Pho works with strollers but is brutal between 11 and 3. Go at 8 a.m. opening or last admission. Tuk-tuks are the kid magnet, but for any trip with a baby car seat, stick with metered taxis or Grab. Pro tip parents pass around: pack a small folding fan or a battery-powered neck fan for the kids. Two dollars in any 7-Eleven; saves a meltdown daily.
