Tarpon Springs Aquarium & Sanctuary

Tarpon Springs Aquarium & Sanctuary is a small, family-run animal attraction with a strong hands-on focus. Instead of only viewing tanks, children can meet rays, sharks, turtles, fish, reptiles, alligators, crocodiles, and farm animals. The official program describes opportunities to pet, hold, or feed selected animals under staff direction.

That active format makes the aquarium a good fit for preschool and elementary-age children who lose interest in long rows of display signs.

Scheduled programs add structure to the visit. The alligator show includes a chance to pet or hold a smaller gator afterward. Reptile encounters may end with an opportunity to hold a python and baby alligator.

A diver feeds animals in either the shark tank or large-fish tank. The aquarium advises calling on the day of a visit if seeing one particular diver show matters because the tank and time can change.

The property has both indoor and outdoor areas and is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except Thanksgiving and Christmas. The operator describes it as open rain or shine. Families should still bring sun or rain protection for time outside. Current gate prices are $34.99 for ages 13 and older, $24.99 for ages 3 to 12, and $29.99 for seniors. Children age two and under enter free. The online ticket page currently lists a 15% discount, reducing adult admission to $29.74 and child admission to $21.24 before listed tax. The optional feed package costs extra, so include it in the budget only if children want to feed animals.

Arrival is simple by car because the aquarium has ample free on-site parking on North Pinellas Avenue. Stroller rules, nursing space, and changing facilities were not confirmed on current official pages, so families who need them should call first. The snack stand sells drinks and snacks but not full meals.
