Suson Animal Farm

Suson Animal Farm is a free St. Louis County petting zoo and working farm located within Suson Park in Fenton, about 25 minutes southwest of downtown St. Louis. For families with young children who want a farm animal experience without driving to a paid attraction, it's one of the best free resources in the region.

The farm features goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and other classic farm animals in a well-maintained outdoor setting. The goat pen is the star of the visit — kids can enter the pen with feed (quarters in the feed dispenser) and have goats eating directly from their hands within seconds. For children who have never been that close to a large animal, the experience is memorable in a way that's hard to orchestrate without a significant admission fee somewhere else.

The farm setting is educational in the way that only genuine animal contact can be. Kids learn through proximity and interaction — what a goat's rough tongue feels like, how sheep move differently from goats, what a pig actually smells like up close.
