Nassau is the rare cruise-port city where the standard six-hour stop gives families the wrong read.

Stay longer and the city opens up. Downtown, Bay Street, the Pirates of Nassau Museum, and the Bahamas Historical Society Museum can fill a walkable afternoon, but I would not build a whole family trip around the port core alone. The better Nassau version mixes one strong marine anchor, one beach day, and one flexible local-food or west-end day.

If you can only do one paid attraction here with kids, I think Atlantis Marine Habitat & The Dig is the pick. The aquarium is genuinely strong for ages 4 and up, and the open-air lagoons plus tunnel sections clear the under-7 zone reality better than most big-name aquariums because younger kids still have obvious visual payoff even when they cannot read a single sign.

5 hours just for the habitat, longer if you pair it with the larger Atlantis day. The family-of-four math is steep, $250 per adult and $190 per child through the day pass, which is why this is my calibrated take for Nassau: the marine habitat is underrated, the full Atlantis splashy add-on is often overrated unless your kids also clear the 48-inch slide threshold.
