L’Aquàrium de Barcelona

L'Aquàrium de Barcelona is an easy all-weather choice for families who want animals, movement, and a clear route through the exhibits. The main collection focuses on Mediterranean habitats, with additional tropical tanks and displays about other aquatic environments. Its centerpiece is the Oceanarium, a vast tank crossed by a transparent tunnel more than 80 meters long.

Children can see sand tiger sharks, sandbar sharks, rays, moray eels, and other fish from below the waterline.

The visit is not limited to watching tanks. Current family activities include an all-ages treasure hunt, an interactive marine-waste game, shark-themed games, and a journey from the ocean surface to its deepest areas. These standard family activities are included with admission, although the aquarium may change or cancel them.

Planeta Aqua adds penguins and freshwater animals, while interactive areas help younger visitors learn through play.

The aquarium recommends at least two hours. Families following activities or animal feeding times may want two-and-a-half to three hours. Published feeding times include penguins twice daily, rays on most days, and shark feeding on selected weekdays, but animal welfare can change the schedule. Check the official page on the morning of the visit.

Standard one-day tickets currently cost EUR 30 for visitors over 11, EUR 23 for ages 5 to 10, and EUR 15 for ages 3 to 4. Children from birth through age two enter free without a ticket. An online family pack for two general tickets and two child tickets costs EUR 88. Buying online also removes the ticket-purchase queue. Keep the barcode ready on a phone or printed receipt.

The building is indoors and the official FAQ says its facilities are accessible to visitors with disabilities, making it a strong rainy-day option. However, stroller rules and nursing or changing rooms were not confirmed on the pages reviewed. A cafeteria and restaurant sell sandwiches, drinks, ice cream, and other food.

Lockers are available for a fee. Do not leave expecting to return later: the official FAQ says visitors must pay again after exiting. Finally, check the date-specific closing time.

The aquarium opens daily at 10:00 a.m., but closing changes between 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 p.m.
