Barcelona Zoo sits inside Parc de la Ciutadella and is built for a long family visit rather than a quick animal stop. Families can move between habitats, scheduled keeper talks, discovery spaces and two children's play areas. During the current summer season, from June 1 through September 14, the zoo is listed as open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Closing times become earlier during other parts of the year, so check the live calendar for your exact date. Ticket offices close before the grounds.

The official sales system says advance web purchases must be completed by the day before the visit. Same-day visitors need to use the ticket office, which adds some arrival friction.

Children under 3 enter free, while ages 3 to 12 use the child rate. A May 2026 official event described €11.50 adult and €6.95 child tickets as a 50% discount. That implies base prices at that time of €23 and €13.90. On that basis, two adults and two children would total about €73.80: €23 x 2 + €13.90 x 2. Family facilities are strong. The zoo has a nursing room beside La Morera restaurant and baby-changing stations in several restrooms. La Dama lists a children's menu, vegetarian and vegan choices. Families may also bring outside food and drinks into the zoo and use two picnic areas. Re-entry is not allowed once a visitor leaves.

Most animal viewing is outdoors, so plan 4-6 hours with shade, water and indoor meal breaks. The grounds have ramps and the zoo states that its facilities are adapted for reduced mobility. An explicit stroller policy is not published, so families needing confirmation should contact visitor services before arrival.
