TRex Playland

TRex Playland is an indoor family entertainment center on North Military Highway in Norfolk, just a short drive from Virginia Beach. It combines a large indoor playground structure, arcade games, and party facilities into a space aimed squarely at families with kids ages 2 through 12. The dinosaur theming runs throughout — expect dino decorations, themed play equipment, and a name that immediately grabs the attention of any young paleontology fan.

The main attraction is a multi-level indoor playground structure with slides, tunnels, climbing nets, and ball pits. It's the kind of padded, enclosed play area where kids can run wild while parents can see them from the seating area below. Alongside the playground, there's an arcade section with ticket-redemption games and a prize counter, which adds another layer of entertainment for kids who need a break from climbing.

TRex Playland operates on an admission-based model — you pay per child for access to the playground, and arcade games are separate (either token-based or card-loaded). The facility hosts birthday parties regularly, so weekend afternoons can get loud and crowded. Weekday afternoons after school hours (Tuesday through Thursday, 2-7PM) tend to be calmer.

The facility is technically in Norfolk rather than Virginia Beach proper, but it's close enough to the border that it serves the same market. It's about 15 minutes from the Virginia Beach Town Center area. The space is utilitarian — don't expect a high-design environment — but it's clean, functional, and kids don't care about aesthetics when there's a three-story slide to ride.

There's a small snack bar or food options available on-site, along with seating for parents who want to sit while kids play. The venue is closed on Mondays and opens at 2PM on weekdays, so it's primarily an after-school and weekend destination. For a low-key, let-the-kids-run-wild kind of outing, TRex Playland gets the job done.
