About

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre sits inside Vaughan Mills mall, about 30 minutes north of downtown Toronto. It's an indoor LEGO-themed attraction geared squarely at kids ages 3 to 10 — important to note because adults are not permitted entry without a child, and teens over 14 are not the target audience.

The centerpiece is MINILAND, a detailed model of Toronto landmarks built from over 1.5 million LEGO bricks. Kids press buttons to trigger lights, moving parts, and sound effects throughout the display. The CN Tower, Scotiabank Arena, and City Hall are all recognizable, and spotting familiar buildings turns into a scavenger hunt.

Two rides anchor the experience. Kingdom Quest is a slow-moving dark ride where riders use laser guns to shoot at LEGO villains — scores are tallied at the end, which makes kids want to ride again and again. MERLIN'S Apprentice Ride spins riders in circles while they pedal to go higher. Both rides have short lines on weekdays but can hit 20 to 40 minutes on weekend afternoons.

The DUPLO Village gives toddlers and preschoolers a dedicated play area with oversized soft bricks, a small slide, and building stations at their height. This area is separated from the main floor, so parents of little ones can relax without worrying about older kids running through.

Building stations are scattered throughout where kids can free-build, race LEGO cars down ramps, and participate in guided building challenges with a Master Model Builder. The 4D Cinema runs short LEGO-themed films with wind, rain, and special effects that add a multisensory element.

The on-site cafe serves basic meals — pizza, sandwiches, and snacks — at theme park prices. The gift shop is strategically placed at the exit and can be difficult to navigate without purchasing something. Budget accordingly or set expectations before entering.

Parking at Vaughan Mills is free and plentiful. The centre is also accessible via the TTC Vaughan Metropolitan Centre subway station, though it's a 15-minute bus ride from the station to the mall.

Why Kids Love It

The MINILAND Toronto model built entirely from LEGO bricks blows kids' minds — they'll spot the CN Tower, Rogers Centre, and their own neighborhood. The Kingdom Quest ride lets kids shoot laser guns at skeletons and trolls from a moving car, and the DUPLO area gives toddlers their own building zone away from the chaos.
