About
Canoe Landing Community Recreation Centre is a modern City of Toronto recreation facility in the CityPlace neighborhood near Fort York. As one of the newer centres, it has updated facilities and serves the growing family population in Toronto's waterfront west area.
The centre offers the standard city recreation programming -- swimming lessons, sports, arts, fitness, and camps -- at subsidized rates. The modern building means better amenities than some older centres, including bright multi-purpose rooms and updated equipment.
The adjacent Canoe Landing Park is a real bonus for families. The park features a massive red canoe sculpture by artist Douglas Chicken (yes, really), a playground, sports fields, and open green space. In summer, the park's splash pad is a neighborhood favorite. You can easily spend a full morning combining indoor programming with outdoor park time.
Drop-in programs here include family swims, open gym, and toddler play sessions. The CityPlace area is densely populated with young families, so drop-in sessions can be busy on weekends. Weekday mornings tend to be quieter.
For families staying near the waterfront, Harbourfront, or CN Tower area, this is one of the closest recreation centres. It's a good rainy-day option when kids need to burn energy and the waterfront attractions are getting repetitive.
Registered programs follow the City of Toronto schedule and registration portal. Popular programs fill quickly on registration day, so set a reminder.
