About
Canada's Wonderland is the Greater Toronto Area's premier amusement park and one of the most visited theme parks in North America. Located in Vaughan about 30 minutes north of downtown Toronto, this 330-acre park delivers a full day of entertainment for every age in the family — from toddlers to thrill-seeking teens.
The park is divided into themed areas, with two specifically designed for younger children. KidZville features miniature versions of classic rides, including small coasters, spinning rides, and car rides designed for children under 48 inches. Planet Snoopy offers Peanuts-themed rides and play areas with splash pads, character meet-and-greets, and gentle attractions.
These areas are self-contained enough that families with only young children can spend several happy hours without venturing into the more intense sections of the park.
For older kids and teens, Canada's Wonderland is a coaster paradise. The park's 18 roller coasters include some world-record holders: Yukon Striker is the world's fastest and longest dive coaster, Leviathan reaches speeds of 148 km/h, and Behemoth delivers extreme airtime on a 70-metre drop. Mid-level rides like the Backlot Stunt Coaster and Ghoster Coaster bridge the gap for kids who have outgrown KidZville but are not quite ready for the extreme coasters.
Splash Works, the park's 20-acre water park, is included with regular admission and is a massive draw on hot summer days. Features include multiple wave pools, a lazy river, speed slides, body slides, family raft rides, and a colossal play structure that dumps thousands of gallons of water every few minutes. Plan to split your day between the dry park and Splash Works to get the most value from your admission.
Food inside the park spans quick-service options like pizza, burgers, poutine, and funnel cakes to sit-down restaurants. Prices are typical amusement park markup, so families looking to save should eat before arriving and bring snacks. Outside food is not technically permitted, but empty water bottles can be refilled at fountains throughout the park.
The park operates seasonally, typically from early May through early October, with expanded hours on weekends and in peak summer. Weekend visits in July and August see the heaviest crowds and longest ride waits. For the best experience, visit on a weekday in June or September, arrive at opening, and work from the back of the park forward.
Parking costs $30-35 per vehicle. The park is accessible via Highway 400 and is also served by GO Transit bus from York Mills subway station during the summer season. Season passes offer the best value for GTA families planning multiple visits, and include parking and food discounts.

Plan Your Visit
Best Time to Visit
Weekdays in June or September have the shortest lines. July and August weekends can mean 60+ minute waits for popular coasters. Arrive at opening (10AM) and hit the biggest rides first. If visiting Splash Works, go in the afternoon when the park crowds shift to rides.
Wait Times
30-90 minutes for major coasters on weekends; 10-20 minutes on weekdays
Nearby Food
Canada's Wonderland has over 30 food outlets inside the park including Subway, Smoke's Poutinerie, funnel cakes, and sit-down restaurants. For better value, eat outside the park before or after — Mandarin Restaurant (3325 Hwy 7) is a popular all-you-can-eat buffet nearby, and Dave & Buster's at Vaughan Mills has family-friendly dining with games.
Why Kids Love It
Canada's Wonderland is the big one — 330 acres of rides, coasters, and a massive water park that makes it one of the top amusement parks in North America. With over 200 attractions including 18 roller coasters, this is where Toronto families go for a full-throttle thrill day. For younger kids, KidZville and Planet Snoopy areas have dozens of pint-sized rides — mini coasters, spinning teacups, Snoopy-themed play areas, and water splash pads designed for the under-7 crowd.
These areas are thoughtfully separated from the big ride zones so little ones never feel overwhelmed by the intensity around them. For big kids, tweens, and teens, the coasters are world-class. Yukon Striker drops 245 feet straight down, Leviathan hits 148 km/h, and Behemoth delivers airtime that makes your stomach flip.
There are also plenty of mid-level rides — scrambler, swings, bumper cars — for kids not quite ready for the extreme coasters. Splash Works, the 20-acre water park, is included with admission and features wave pools, lazy rivers, speed slides, and a massive play structure that dumps water every few minutes. On a hot July day, it is heaven.
The combination of dry park and water park means you genuinely need a full day, and kids will sleep the entire car ride home.
