About

The Bumble Bee Ride is another beloved kiddie ride at Centreville Amusement Park on Centre Island, Toronto. Similar in concept to the Beasley Bear Ride, children sit in individual bumble-bee-shaped cars that spin around a central pole and rise gently into the air. The ride gives toddlers and preschoolers that exciting 'flying' sensation at a pace that's thrilling for them but completely safe.

This is one of those rides that 3-5 year olds get obsessed with. The bright yellow bee cars are eye-catching, and the gentle elevation — just a few feet off the ground — makes kids feel like they've conquered something. Parents can watch from just outside the ride perimeter, and the ride operator is attentive.

Like all Centreville rides, this one is outdoors and weather-dependent. Centreville closes on rainy days. The ride lasts about 2-3 minutes per cycle, and on busy days there may be a short queue. It cycles quickly though, so waits rarely exceed 15 minutes even on summer Saturdays.

The Bumble Bee Ride is best experienced as one stop on a full Centreville circuit. With 30+ rides available, families with young kids can easily spend 2-3 hours working through the kiddie ride section. The ride area is paved and the park is stroller-accessible, though you'll park your stroller at the ride entrance.

Centreville opens seasonally, typically May through September. Check their website for exact dates and hours before making the ferry trip over.

Why Kids Love It

Kids get to 'fly' in their own bumble bee that lifts up and spins around — the slight height makes them feel brave. The bright yellow bee cars are irresistible to toddlers. Most kids want to ride it twice in a row.

Pro Tips from Parents

  • Hit the kiddie rides early — they get busier as the afternoon wears on
  • The Bumble Bee and Beasley Bear rides are right near each other, so do them back to back
  • All-day wristband is the way to go if your child wants to ride everything
  • Check Centreville's opening dates — they're seasonal (roughly May-September)

What to Bring

  • Centreville wristband or ride tickets
