About
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park covers seven city blocks filled with restored buildings, museums, shops and restaurants. Families move between the open plaza, adobe homes, the Seeley Stable, the old schoolhouse and exhibits about the Kumeyaay people and early San Diego. A working blacksmith shop and living-history demonstrations may operate during staffed hours.

The visitor center and select museums are currently listed as open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. The park's more detailed visitor page shows the largest group of staffed museums from Thursday through Sunday, though families should call before making a plan around one building. Museums close on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Parking is free for up to four hours, which is enough for a steady family visit without trying to see every room.
Saturday is the strongest day for younger visitors. Little Rangers offers stories, songs and an activity for children 6 and younger. Junior Rangers introduces ages 7 to 12 to local natural and cultural history. Both programs are free, but space can be limited. Most of the day involves walking outdoors between buildings. Bring sun protection and water, and do not treat this as a fully sheltered rainy-day stop. California State Parks says routes are generally accessible, with benches and accessible restrooms around the park.
Historic construction still creates occasional uneven surfaces, stairs, narrow doors and high thresholds, so a compact stroller will be easier than a wide one.
