Layton Aquarium & Wildlife Encounters is an indoor animal attraction inside Layton Hills Mall. The official animal list spans marine life and land animals, including stingrays, sharks, axolotls, reptiles, otters, armadillos, prairie dogs and a two-toed sloth. Children can switch between tanks and habitats instead of spending the whole visit looking at one type of animal.

The operator also allows feeding or touching in designated areas under staff direction.

This works for a broad age range. Babies can watch fish and movement, toddlers can handle a shorter loop and school-age children can read the animal facts. Older children and teens may be more interested in optional encounters.

Those activities are not guaranteed with admission. The official FAQ tells visitors to check the store for interaction availability after arrival. A snorkeling experience is also described, with a 20-minute water session plus changing time and specific swimming requirements.

Plan 90 minutes to three hours for the main exhibits. Add time only after confirming an encounter. The facility is indoors and follows mall-style hours, making it useful during rain, snow or extreme heat.

It is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from noon to 6:00 PM. The aquarium is directly below the mall food court; the operator recommends entering near the food court or Dick's Sporting Goods.

Ticket information requires a careful live check. Different pages on the official site show different starting prices, so do not rely on an old screenshot. The current promotions page advertises a $59.99 family pass covering two adults and four youth, plus weekday specials and free admission for children under 2. These are limited-time offers and may not combine.

Families should also review the visit rules. Children must remain with an adult. Flash photography is not allowed, and feeding or touching animals is permitted only where staff approves it.

Outside food and drinks, pets and large bags may be restricted. The site states that tickets are generally final-sale, though regular admission tickets remain valid unless a specific promotion says otherwise.
