About
Parc Astérix is France's answer to the big theme park experience, located 35 kilometers north of Paris near Charles de Gaulle airport and consistently rated among the best theme parks in Europe. The park is built around the beloved French comic series featuring the indomitable Gaul village, and everything — from the architecture to the ride vehicles to the costumed characters — draws from the visual world Goscinny and Uderzo created. Six themed worlds spread across the park: the Gaulish village, ancient Rome, ancient Greece, a Viking zone, a Norse mythology area, and an Egyptian-themed section.
Roller coasters range from family-friendly launches suitable for children aged 5 and up to serious inverted and launched coasters that satisfy thrill-seeking tweens and teens. Water rides provide relief in summer heat. Stunt shows, acrobatic performances, and a dolphin show fill gaps between rides and allow rest without losing the park's energy.
A dedicated young children's area with gentle rides, a play village, and costumed character meet-and-greets serves the 3-to-7 crowd. The park is large — a full day is needed to cover it meaningfully — and it operates from April through October with select winter openings. The drive from central Paris takes around 40 minutes by car or shuttle bus, making it a natural full-day excursion from the city.
