About
Moab Adventure Center on Main Street is the hub for families who want to do it all in canyon country — and in Moab, the range of outdoor adventures available is genuinely overwhelming in the best possible way. This outfitter and booking center brings the options under one roof with experienced guides who know these landscapes intimately.
For families, the Colorado River rafting trips are often the first recommendation. The calmer sections of the river are appropriate for kids as young as 7, offering the thrill of moving water through the iconic red-walled canyons without the danger of serious whitewater. Watching sandstone walls rise hundreds of feet above your raft while eagles circle overhead is the kind of experience kids carry with them for years.
Jeep tours into the backcountry give families access to terrain that isn't reachable by regular vehicles — Mesa Arch at sunrise, remote canyon overlooks, and landscape features that require miles of dirt road. For families who didn't bring their own 4WD, these tours open up a completely different dimension of Moab.
Canyoneering trips — rappelling into narrow slot canyons, scrambling through passageways, and navigating natural obstacle courses — are Moab's most adventurous offering for older kids and teens. Physical requirements apply, so younger children may not qualify for all trips.
Moab's extreme summer heat (regularly 100°F+) makes spring (April–May) and fall (September–October) the strongly preferred seasons for outdoor activities. If you must visit in summer, plan all outdoor activities for early morning and be in a shaded or air-conditioned space by noon.
Book in advance — the best guides and time slots fill weeks ahead in peak season.
