O'o Farm

Perched at 3,000 feet in the cool hills of Kula, O'o Farm is one of those rare places that makes kids genuinely excited about where food comes from. This isn't a petting-zoo style farm visit — it's a working organic farm where your family rolls up their sleeves and gets involved.

The guided farm-to-table tours are the heart of the experience. You'll walk the terraced fields with a knowledgeable guide, harvesting coffee cherries, picking vegetables, and learning about the farm's biodynamic practices. Kids who claim they hate vegetables have been known to gobble up produce they just pulled from the ground — there's something powerful about that direct connection.

At the elevation of Kula, expect temperatures 10–15 degrees cooler than the beach towns, which makes it a refreshing escape, especially in summer. The landscape is lush and misty, a completely different side of Maui than most tourists see.

The tour wraps with a farm-to-table lunch prepared by the farm's chef using ingredients harvested that morning. This is genuinely one of the best meals families have on Maui — simple, fresh, and made more delicious by the fact that your kids helped source it.

Because tours are guided and scheduled, you'll want to book ahead — often weeks in advance during peak season. The farm is closed on weekends. Ages 6 and up will get the most from this experience; younger kids may find the walking and attention required to be a stretch, but curious 5-year-olds do fine with patient parents.
