Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay

Shark Reef Aquarium is an indoor wildlife stop inside Mandalay Bay on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. The official page says the aquarium houses more than 2,000 animals and uses a shipwreck-style setting for close views of sharks and other aquatic life. The experience also includes an Undersea Explorer virtual-reality theater with motion seats and 360-degree films about humpback whales or sharks.

That mix gives younger children plenty to watch while offering older children a more active finale.

General admission is open to all ages, and children age 4 and under enter free. The VR films are for age 5 and older, so families with a younger child must rotate adults if others want to ride. Children age 12 and younger must remain with a paid adult.

Optional animal encounters have separate charges and stricter age rules. Stingray feeding starts at age 5, while shark and sea-turtle feeding programs start at age 13. A 45-minute educator-led aquarium tour also requires children to be at least 5.

The aquarium is fully indoors, making it useful during extreme heat, rain, or a cold evening. The operator does not publish a standard visit duration, stroller policy, nursing-room information, or changing-facility details. A practical planning range is one to two hours for the aquarium and VR, but families that pause at every habitat may need longer.

Timed entry creates the biggest arrival rule. Each standard ticket is valid for a selected one-hour entry window, and the aquarium warns that peak periods can sell out. Anytime tickets provide more flexibility but cost more.

At current posted rates, a family with two adults and two children ages 5 to 12 pays $106 for timed entry or $134 for anytime entry before verifying the checkout total. Children 4 and under do not need a paid ticket.
