Denver Art Museum

The Denver Art Museum is a large, multi-building campus in the Golden Triangle. General admission covers the Hamilton Building, Martin Building, and The Kirkland, but separate ticketed exhibitions may cost more. Families should plan two to four hours and select a few areas instead of trying to see the full campus in one day.

The museum includes art from many cultures and time periods, plus design spaces, an artmaking studio, family areas, and an outdoor rooftop terrace.

Children age 18 and younger receive free general admission every day the museum is open. Adult prices change by residency and peak day. Colorado resident adults currently pay $22 or $25, while nonresident adults pay $27 or $30.

This makes general admission for two adults and two children $44 to $50 for Colorado residents or $54 to $60 for nonresidents. Parking, meals, and special exhibitions are extra. The museum also publishes free days and discounted programs, so check the official ticket page before paying.

The campus works for a wide age range. Create & Play is a scheduled program for children ages 0 to 5 and their caregivers, combining gallery exploration with artmaking. Older children can use family spaces, look for details in art, sketch with pencils, or follow the museum's digital guide.

Sensory tools, including youth noise-reducing headphones and weighted items, are available to borrow. Strollers and manual wheelchairs are also offered free on a first-come basis.

Most of the visit is indoors, making the museum useful in rain, snow, or summer heat. The Martin and Hamilton buildings have a pedestrian bridge, but families may still encounter outdoor portions while moving around the full campus. Single-user family restrooms are available on the first level of both main buildings, though baby-changing equipment and a dedicated nursing room were not confirmed.

Street parking and several nearby lots are available. The Cultural Center Complex Garage uses a kiosk or PayByPhone rather than a paper ticket, so note your license plate. Current posted hourly rates range from $2 for one hour to $20 for 12 hours, but event rates can replace them. Advance admission booking is encouraged for the best availability.
