Lake Travis Zipline Adventures

Lake Travis Zipline Adventures is a reservation-only outdoor activity for older children, tweens and teens who are ready for both speed and a demanding uphill walk. The operator allows children from age 8, but every rider must weigh between 70 and 250 pounds. Staff weigh guests at check-in.

That weight rule can exclude a smaller 8- or 9-year-old even when the child meets the stated age minimum, so confirm before paying.

Families choose between two tours. The single-line option lasts about 1. 5 hours and includes nearly one mile of hiking before the Double Barrel Shotgun line.

The five-line tour lasts about three hours and spreads more than 1. 5 miles of hiking across the course. Its first two lines serve as training runs, followed by three longer and faster lines.

The final climb is equivalent to about 20 flights of stairs. Both options include safety equipment, boat transportation, bottled water and access to the private lakefront grounds.

Arrival rules are strict. Complete the waiver in advance and check in 30 minutes before departure. Guests who arrive late cannot join the tour and do not receive a refund.

Closed-toe shoes are required. The operator normally runs tours in rain, but lightning may force a cancellation. If the company cancels for weather, it offers rescheduling or gift-card tickets rather than a cash refund.

Families should call about two hours ahead when storms are nearby.

Cost is substantial. The tour page lists the single line at $88 per person and shows the five-line tour at $138, though it also advertises starting and promotional prices as low as $108. That produces a four-person range of $432 to $552 plus tax for the full course.

After riding, families can picnic, swim from the private shoreline, play games or rest in hammocks. A concession stand is available, but no full menu or children's meal selection is published. This is not a good outing for babies, strollers or family members who cannot manage steep terrain.
