Leisure Island Seine Loops

Leisure Island Seine Loops — known in French as the Base de Loisirs des Boucles de la Seine — is a large outdoor recreation park situated on and around an island in the Seine river in the Yvelines department west of Paris. Like other bases de loisirs in the Île-de-France region, it offers a wide mix of free and low-cost outdoor activities centered on water, nature, and open-air sport.

The park's island setting on the Seine gives it a distinctive feel. Families can walk along the water's edge, rent kayaks or canoes, cycle on well-maintained paths, or simply claim a patch of grass and spend the afternoon letting children run freely. The riverside environment is one of the most naturally beautiful in the greater Paris area, with the Seine providing a constant backdrop to the day's activities.

Beach areas along the river allow supervised swimming during summer, and the combination of water access and open lawns creates natural play opportunities for every age. Younger children are happy with simple water splashing and sandplay, while older kids push toward the more structured water sports and cycling routes.

For Paris families with a car, the drive west along the Seine valley is pleasant in itself. The park also serves as a gateway to the broader Seine Loops regional nature area, which includes walking trails and cycling routes extending well beyond the leisure island proper. A half-day here can easily expand into a longer exploration for families with older, more adventurous children.
