About
The splash fountain at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford is a free water play installation set within one of London's most celebrated public spaces. Built for the 2012 London Olympics, the park has been thoughtfully designed for families and the fountain is one of its most popular features on warm days. Multiple ground-level jets shoot water upward in timed sequences — kids sprint through the streams, try to predict the next burst, and invariably get completely drenched, which is exactly the point.
The fountain is accessible to pushchairs and is surrounded by wide paved areas that make supervision easy even with multiple children. Because it's embedded in the Olympic Park, a visit naturally turns into a much bigger day out. The ArcelorMittal Orbit tower looms in the background, there are miles of paths to cycle or scoot along, and the Velodrome and Aquatics Centre are nearby if you want to make a full activity day of it.
The park also has several cafés and food kiosks, restrooms with baby-changing facilities, and plenty of shaded seating. On busy summer weekends the park can get crowded, but the fountain area is open enough that it rarely feels overwhelming. Stratford Westfield is a five-minute walk for anyone who wants to extend the day with lunch or shopping.
It's a rare combination of free, central, and genuinely excellent.

Why Kids Love It
The splash fountain at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is one of London's most impressive free water features — multiple jets shoot skyward in choreographed bursts that kids try to time and dodge. The surrounding park is massive, so there's room to run, explore, and burn energy long after the water play wraps up. It sits in one of the most architecturally interesting parts of London, making it fun for parents too.
Pro Tips from Parents

- The park can get very busy on weekends in summer — aim for Tuesday through Thursday mornings for the most breathing room.
