Playground Spider

Playground Spider is one of the best free outdoor play spots in the greater Lisbon area, anchored by its signature oversized climbing spider web that gives the playground its name. Located along the scenic riverside promenade of Passeio dos Heróis do Mar, the playground draws local families on weekends and is quiet enough on weekday mornings to feel like you have it to yourself.

The spider web climbing structure is the star — a large cargo net formation where kids can scramble up multiple levels, balance on rope bridges, and reach a platform with views toward the Tejo River. Younger kids love the lower sections and the surrounding smaller play equipment, while more adventurous 6-to-10-year-olds will spend a solid hour working their way to the top.

Because it's open 24 hours and free, there's no planning required beyond checking the weather. The riverside location means there's no shade on sunny days, so sunscreen and a hat are a must. Pair the playground with a walk along the promenade or a short trip into the Parque das Nações neighborhood for lunch.
