About
Wake Park Džbán sits on the edge of the Džbán reservoir in Prague's Vokovice neighborhood — a surprisingly wild-feeling freshwater lake barely 20 minutes from the city center. The wake park runs a full cable wakeboarding system that tows riders across the water at speed, and it's the kind of activity that earns genuine 'best day of the trip' status with older kids and teens.
Cable wakeboarding works differently from boat towing: an overhead cable system runs around a course, pulling riders continuously so multiple people can be on the water at once. Beginners start on beginner boards with a lower tow point and learn to stand, balance, and eventually carve basic turns. Kids with skateboarding or snowboarding experience tend to pick it up quickly, but total beginners do fine with a short lesson.
The park staff runs introductory sessions that are well worth booking — 20 minutes of instruction takes most first-timers from faceplant to actually riding within a single session. Once they've got the basics, kids will want to go again and again.
The Džbán reservoir itself has a designated swimming area, making this an easy full-day outing. Non-riders can swim or sunbathe on the grassy shore while the more adventurous family members take turns on the cable. There's usually a snack bar or cafe on site for mid-day fueling.
This is a warm-weather outdoor activity — plan for late May through September. Weekday mornings offer the shortest waits and the least crowded water.
