At bigger zoos and aquariums, you're watching from a distance. Here, the scale is intimate enough that kids feel like they're really connecting with the animals.

For families heading to or from Lake Tahoe, Folsom is about 90 minutes from the lake — so this works as a stop on the drive rather than a Tahoe-area activity. It's really more of a Sacramento-area attraction, but it's one of the better indoor family activities in the region.
