About
Lover's Beach — Playa del Amor — is one of Cabo's most beautiful and unique beach experiences, and getting there is half the adventure. Tucked at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula at Land's End, this small crescent of golden sand is accessible only by water taxi, kayak, or tour boat, giving it an exclusive, Robinson Crusoe feel that kids absolutely love.
The beach sits in a dramatic setting between towering rock formations, with El Arco visible just offshore. The Sea of Cortez side offers calm, clear water perfect for snorkeling — families can spot tropical fish, starfish, sea urchins, and occasionally sea turtles in the shallow reef areas. The Pacific side (Divorce Beach) is connected by a short rocky path and is stunning to see but extremely dangerous for swimming due to powerful rip currents and crashing waves.
Water taxis from Medano Beach or the Cabo San Lucas Marina take about 10 minutes and cost around $15 per person round trip. The tricky part is that there's no dock — your water taxi pulls up to the beach and you hop out into shallow water, which is why water shoes are non-negotiable for families. There's also no cell service on the beach, so arrange your pickup time with your driver before they leave.
Bring absolutely everything you'll need — there are no restrooms, no vendors, no shade structures, and no fresh water on the beach. Pack snacks, plenty of water, sunscreen, an umbrella or pop-up tent for shade, and snorkel gear if you plan to explore the underwater world. The lack of facilities is actually part of the charm — it's one of the few unspoiled beach experiences left in Cabo.
For families with younger kids (under 5), the logistics of the boat transfer and lack of facilities make this a challenging outing. But for families with kids 5 and up who are comfortable in the water, Lover's Beach is a genuinely magical experience that will be a highlight of your Cabo trip.

Why Kids Love It
Lover's Beach feels like discovering a secret island. The only way to get there is by boat, which already makes it an adventure for kids. Once you arrive on this small crescent of golden sand tucked between dramatic rock formations, kids can snorkel in the calm, clear water of the Sea of Cortez side and spot colorful tropical fish, sea urchins, and sometimes even sea turtles.
The rock formations are fascinating to explore (with supervision), and the views of El Arco from the beach are spectacular. Kids who are old enough to snorkel will be thrilled by the marine life just offshore. The beach itself has that castaway vibe — no buildings, no restaurants, no crowds — just your family and the ocean.
Walking over the rocky path to peek at Divorce Beach on the Pacific side (just to look, not swim! ) adds an extra element of exploration.
Pro Tips from Parents
- Arrange your return water taxi time BEFORE the driver leaves — there's no cell service on the beach to call one later
- The Sea of Cortez side (facing the bay) is the only safe swimming and snorkeling area — never enter the water on the Pacific side
- Bring reef-safe sunscreen, water, snacks, and everything you'll need — there are absolutely no facilities or vendors
- Water shoes are essential for getting on and off the water taxi since there's no dock
- Go early (before 10 AM) to have the beach nearly to yourself before tour groups arrive
What to Bring
- Snorkel gear (rent in town or bring your own)
- Water shoes — essential for rocky entry/exit from water taxis
- Plenty of water and snacks (no vendors on the beach)
- Reef-safe sunscreen and a shade umbrella
- Waterproof bag for phones and valuables
